Dawn Flight (Caerlaverock)
In partnership with the Wild Goose Festival 2026, WWT Caerlaverock is offering a unique opportunity to experience the spectacle of thousands of barnacle geese taking their sunrise flight from the mudflats to have breakfast on our fields, with the stunning backdrop of an uninterrupted sunrise.
Please wear warm and waterproof clothing and footwear – guests will be required to walk to the viewing spot (outside the Saltcot Merse Observatory). Binoculars and torches encouraged but not required. Tea and coffees available.
Arrive at WWT Caerlaverock at 06:45. The group will then be led to the Saltcot Merse Observatory for the event. After sunrise, the group will be led back to the Visitor Centre for complementary teas and coffees.
Please note: the walk to the viewing spot is about half a mile long, guests will need to be fit enough to complete this walk before dawn on the day of the event.
Important: Timing is currently our best estimate for the sunrise. This may change slightly closer to the time depending on the weather. We will notify you of any changes ahead of the event.
