Deep Time Walk at Steart Marshes
Experience Steart Marshes from 250 million years ago, through to the present day and on to 1000 years into the future.
Date: Friday 4th October
Time: 10.00-11.30, 12.30-2.00, 3.00-4.30
The Steart Marshes Deep Time Walk is a soundart walk across the Steart landscape led by Ralph Hoyte. We will start at Steart Marshes 250 million years ago, trundling through to the present and marching on at least 1000 years into the future. We will walk as a group, experiencing the soundart through a GPS-triggered autonomous speaker unit. At the conclusion you will be able to download the walk to your personal smartphone to enjoy again at leisure or to share with friends and family.
Note: this is an authentically-based work of soundart inspired by Steart Marshes, not a natural-historical-geological guide. You do not need to bring any headphones etc. If you bring your smartphone you will be able to download the soundart to your smartphone on the spot (signal permitting); information on how to do this later at home will be provided.
This workshop is suitable for all ages.
Please note – we will be walking around the nature reserve, so dress accordingly, sturdy shoes are recommended.
Where to meet: In the main WWT car park at Steart Marshes, Stert Drove, Bridgwater, Somerset, TA5 2PU.
