Wetland Explorer Day: Great Outdoors

Date: May 9th & 10th 2026

Time: 9:30am to 3:00pm

Squirrels and Rainbows will rotate around a range of fun and creative outdoor activities which will help them work towards their “All About Adventure" Challenge Award or “Great Outdoors" Interest badge. Activities may include:

  • Mini den building
  • Build a nest
  • Nature portraits
  • Baby bird spotting / Family life
  • Spring / Summer scavenger hunt
  • Toast a marshmallow

You’ll also have plenty of time to explore the grounds and centre alongside our other visitors, including a host of exciting exhibits. There’s so much to do you may have trouble packing it into one visit! You could visit the Arctic tundra and Hawaii, learn about our otter Tilly at her feed, meet our wonderful amphibians, feed the birds (additional cost involved), take part in an eco-audit of Slimbridge or play in our adventure playground.

Each day is charged at £10 per child, with adults free at a ratio of 1:5. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept WWT membership cards on learning visits.

Minimum group size of 10.

Places must be booked more than 14 days in advance. Once your booking has been received, we will be in touch via email or phone call to confirm your itinerary and discuss a pre-visit. For full terms and conditions, please click here. Please read the risk assessment before your visit.

When booking, you will be asked to confirm you have read these terms and conditions and have familiarised yourself with the risk assessment. Please ensure you have booked your transport and have secured any parental contributions required.
