Wetland Explorer Day: Habitat & Wildlife

Dates: April 25th or 26th and October 3rd or 4th 2026

Time: 9:30am to 4:00pm

Beavers, Badgers and Rainbows, and Cubs and Brownies, can take part in a choice of fun and creative outdoor activities which will help your children work towards a range of badges including Beavers Explore and Global Issues activity badges, St John Badgers Eco Badger badge, Rainbows Recycling interest badge, Cubs Naturalist badge and Earth Tribe Award and Brownies Make Change skills builder.

During the morning you could either:

  • Investigate what problems plastic pollution is causing and what we can do to help overcome it

or

  • Take part in a BioBlitz and discover which species make wetlands their home

Then in the afternoon, either:

  • Discover what amazing creatures live in a pond and how they are adapted to survive there

or

  • Get creative with natural materials and create a minibeast hotel to take home

You’ll also have plenty of time to explore the grounds and centre alongside our other visitors, including a host of new and exciting exhibits. There’s so much to do you may have trouble packing it into one visit! You could visit the Arctic tundra and Hawaii, learn about our otter Tilly at her feed, meet our wonderful amphibians, feed the birds (additional cost involved), take part in an eco-audit of Slimbridge or play in our adventure playground.

Each day is charged at £10 per child, with adults free at a ratio of 1:5. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept WWT membership cards on learning visits.

Minimum group size of 10.

Places must be booked more than 14 days in advance. Once your booking has been received, we will be in touch via email or phone call to confirm your itinerary and discuss a pre-visit. For full terms and conditions, please click here. Please read the risk assessment before your visit.

When booking, you will be asked to confirm you have read these terms and conditions and have familiarised yourself with the risk assessment. Please ensure you have booked your transport and have secured any parental contributions required.
