Queer Ecology Walk (Slimbridge)

In celebration of Pride month we are delighted to offer Queer Ecology walks with Connor.

Date: Saturday 6 & Sunday 7 June

Times: 10-11.30am or 12.30-2pm

Did you know that scientists often struggle to find male woodlice, that male trees can turn female, or that many species of bird have been recorded partnering up into same-sex couples?

‘Queer Ecology’ aims to challenge what we think of as being ‘natural’ or ‘unnatural’ and celebrates diversity in all life. Join ecologist Connor Butler on a guided nature walk to explore the diverse and unusual lifecycles found in the plants and animals right outside your doorstep. You’ll learn how to identify birds, insects, and plants, and gain a new fascination with the natural world.

This gentle walk around the wetland invites all curious minds interested in seeing nature from a new perspective.

Please bring a drink and a snack, and wear weather-appropriate clothing.

As this is a free event, we will be contacting ticket holders in the days leading up to the event to confirm attendance. Please make sure that the contact details provided when booking are up-to-date so that we can reach you.

Connor is a Queer ecologist with a decade of experience connecting people with the natural world. He has spent the past year studying dung beetles in London's parks and encourages everyone to take time to appreciate the smallest details in nature.

Cost: Included in admission fee or free to WWT members.
