Midsummer meander

Join us for an exclusive evening at WWT Washington and enjoy a 2-course meal followed by an evening midsummer meander around our wetlands.

Enjoy a welcome drink and 2-course meal in Waterside Cafe before heading out alongside our expert reserve team to explore our wetlands after-hours. You'll head through Spring Gill* and our dragonfly ponds before stopping at Diageo hide on Wader Lake. Common tern, avocet, grey heron, lapwing, oystercatcher and various duck species should be around at this time of year to enjoy, and as the light lowers it's truly an exceptional time to capture some unique memories and photographs.

We’ll then take a stroll along to Hawthorn Wood and the reservoir to see what you can spot. Tawny owl, swooping swallow and recently fledged youngsters make a midsummer melody sure to soothe the soul. The opportunity to see fox, deer, hare and bats are all possibilities.

Once all sights and sounds are thoroughly soaked up, you’ll head through Hollowood and back to the centre for the end of the evening.
